Have you looked at the textarea markup in zap and how it works with
the keep function--perhaps for ideas?  I don't know if it would be
helpful to you.  I suppose you could perhaps use [@ @] or [= =] around
the default value instead of (:keep:) as another possibility, as keep
does a couple unorthodox things (ie: magic boxes!).
