May I suggest using

	{{*jr}}

instead? Then you don't have to worry about if it's a bullet or not. 

Or how about for a more general markup with shortcuts:

    shortcut-link   ::= '{{' shortcut-char ( '/' | '.' ) link-text '}}'

where if you go with '{{~.JR}}' you'll see 'Profiles.JR' and if you go 
with '{{~/JR}}' you'll see 'JR'?  ('~' is the shortcut for 'Profiles')
