How about writing a "file browser" directive, i.e. introduce a directive
that lets you display a listing of files that matches a "glob pattern".  
Hmm.. maybe an example is better here:

	[[browse-files: *.txt,*.gif]]

would list all files ending with '.txt' and '.gif'. Clicking on a file
lets you download the file. If there is a subdirectory, the name of the
directory is listed and clicking on it will let you browse the files in
that directory.
