James:

If I copy sample-config.php into the local folder and rename it to
config.php and not make any changes to it I get this error at the top of
the pmwiki pages:

Warning: Failed opening 'local/config.php' for inclusion
(include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/html/pmwiki/pmwiki.php on
line 232

At this point the only line in config.php not commented out is the one
setting the title of pmwiki.

Does this give anyone any clues?

Jack,

To change a password for a page add "?action=attr" to the url.

To change a password for the group create a "GroupAttributes" page and
do the same.

http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/PmWiki/Passwords for more information.

What are the lines that are giving you an include path error?

regards,

James.

	Jack:

Yes that's what I get from it also. I copied the
sample-config.php file to .../local and used vi to add an admin password
to it but it gives me an error message about include path which I don't
understand.

I've done a little on the wiki, but I haven't understood
yet from the documentation how to set a password from within the
program. It looks like on must log in to the system as root and change
a config file. I've subscribed to the mailing list and will see if they
can offer anything.
