There is an easy explanation for this increase of messages to the list:
PmWiki gets more popular every day :).

And we have some fairly good experts discussing very interesting stuff
in here. 

Perhaps we should find a way to split the list? I have no idea how
though (pmwiki-development, pmwiki-users?)...
