Security! FF doesn't permit you to go from HTTP to FILE urls directly, for 
security reasons. I suspect that in IE you can set the security zones such 
that it will let you. FF has no concept of security zones because they are 
one of IE's most vulnerable points. 

There may be a way around this, but I would recommend being very careful with 
it as it apparently can lead to nastyness.
