Huh.. I don't think so. Anyway, they show up if I do a vanilla 
installation of pmwiki so I guess there's some conflict with my skin or 
something.

I don't know. The difference wasn't very noticeable when I ran it on a 
server at home, so maybe it's more apparent when the connection to the 
server is slower?

As for caching the images, I think Opera does that. Running the javascript 
could be slow though, my computer isn't very fast... (300 MHz).
