I got the information on another list, maybe someone is interested.

	There was an interesting article "Medienpflege im Web Wiki-Inhalte
	mit externen Anwendungen bearbeiten" in c't 14/05 about external
	editors for mediawiki. See

	It looks like a nice project for some interested person to adapt 
	it to pmwiki.

Unfortunately you have to buy the article (2nd link) to read it (and I'm
to lazy to fill in all my VISA data).

The third link might be interesting for pmwiki to implement, it's about 
using external editors with a mediawiki.
