Somehow it *really* bugs me to see each table cell containing a 
one-item list.  I'd think it would do nasty things with screenreaders,
also.  It seems like it ought to be a table or a list but not both.

Instead of 

    ||* ... || ... ||  

I almost think I'd prefer to see

    *|| ... || ... ||

and have PmWiki figure out some way to properly break the components
into columns, without resorting to tables.  But overall I fear this
just goes past the limits of what can be reasonably achieved in XHTML.

But ultimately I think the correct answer is that lists like this are
really just a special rendering of definition lists, since we have a
term (page) and as description of that term.
