It's not an addiction, rather a very useful enduser crutch.  

Most end users are totally turned off by formatting codes and a GUIedit
mode helps get them over the hump.  

Formating codes and all sorts of other programmer quirks are second nature
to most everyone associated with this user list. 

One should also be aware that there are other GUIedit webware appearing out
there in forums that allow for most simple formating with a strong trend
towards  WYSIWIGs GUIedits.  If PMWiki doesn't keep moving in that
direction, and instead gets it's feet stuck as a text based, format filled
wiki, it's going to get passed...
