[pmwiki-users] Commercialism in PmWiki (was: Google Analytics)

Just for my two cents, I'm a bit averse to using the words "commercial
license". That is, if the code is going to be the same, there's no
logic to paying for a separate license. On the other hand, a "support
contract" or something similar might be more in order.

When we talk about two different kind of licenses, esp when one is set
in opposition to the GPL license, the temptation might be to gradually
add new features to the one and not the other. Soon we'd have a
PmWiki-Pro and a PmWiki-Light

On the other hand I for one would have been happy many times to fork
over money even to get a simple answer to a question--fast. It cost me
quite a bit of trouble not being able to get help when I needed it,
not to mention countless hours eventually trying to figure something
out for myself. Even when I offered to pay for help, I couldn't get
it. So a support contract would be great--or even a $10 question
answered email hotline.

Pm's done a great job with this software. I wish him the best in
generating revenues from it. But my preference would be to see that
come through support not licensing.

And to Pm: I guess for all my $10 questions you've answered so far I
owe you a bundle already!

Cheers,
Caveman
