[pmwiki-users] UserAuth - .htpassword file keeps getting deleted?!

You could try the HtpasswordForm or FASTMembership recipes to edit the
Htpassword file.  The latter make use of AuthUser instead of UserAuth
rather simple.  You might want to consider switching.
