This won't do it... Let me give a more concrete example

A-B1-C1.D
A-B1-C2.D
A-B2-C3.D
A-B2-C4.D
A-B3-C5.D
A-B3-C6.D

What pagelist might return a display like this

B1
B2
B3

(not B1,B1,B2,B2,B3,B3)
?
