Dr, it is not at all a difficult thing to "predefine" it if *you* need it, and 
it may be scary if there were default templates and one does not expect them.

You can also use edit templates without touching the php files or "definition 
hassles". Set a link like this ("wiki like way"):

[[New Page?action=edit&template=Group.MyTemplate]]

to prefill the text area with the content of Group.MyTemplate. But some may 
find the config.php method easier and simpler.


Out of curiosity, which wiki packages come with default edit templates for non 
existant pages? Because, I happen to know a bit MediaWiki, Wakka, WikiNi, 
Tavi and other smaller wikis, and neither has edit templates set in the 
default installation. So, which exactly wikis are more "wiki like" for you?

There is actually a problem for some users: the need to RTFM. At least *after* 
they tried everything else and still can't make it work.
