I can't answer. Because I had already add 'target=' fields, without
result, before deleting .pageindex. If the 'target=' method worked for
you, and not for me, I tried to imagine what can be different in my case
from your case. And perhaps, as Chris suggested, deleting .pageindex was
sufficient.

Incidently, I had to boost the maximum execution time, and the memory
allowed to scripts in order to permit the first display
(rebuilding .pageindex and perhaps other stuff ?).

I can do some tests the next time I need to import files (in some weeks),
but I don't like this idea : the black box method should
be used only when there is no other mean to know how a software functions.

I made a quick search on .pageindex in the pmwiki doc. I have found
no details about the way this file is created, used and updated,
except that it is used to speed the process. I know that the answer is
somewhere in the source code, but I am not a hacker. If somebody can help
to understand the principles in pointing to some page, or in giving here
some words, as Patrick does sometimes, I should be really grateful.
