In the Triad skin all list items in the sidebar are treated as block
elements, in order to produce the mouse hover effect of a clickable
sidebar-wide "button".

If you want text next to  alink in the sidebar, do not use list
markup, i.e. remove the  *

%newwin%[[News/Index?action=rss|Attach:Main/icon_rss.png"RSS"]] [- RSS -]

and add left padding if needed.
