PmWiki 0.3.15 released
----------------------

I woke up this morning and realized that I haven't been following one
of the good strategies for open-source software development--namely,
"release early, release often". So, rather than wait for things to all
come out in one big PmWiki upgrade, I'll be doing a series of small and quick
releases and people can decide when/if they want to jump to new versions.

So, pmwiki-0.3.15 is now available from http://www.pmichaud.com/pub/pmwiki.
This version includes support for WikiStyles, ThisPage/ThisGroup/ThisWiki
InterMap links, WikiTrails, and cleans up some other items. Full release
details are available from
    http://www.pmichaud.com/wiki/PmWiki/ReleaseNotes

Information about upgrading from a previous version of PmWiki is available at

Preview of upcoming developments (please read!)
-----------------------------------------------

I'm getting ready to add a couple of major features to PmWiki:
Attachments - ability to attach files (e.g. images, PDF) to wiki pages
FreeLinks - ability to create pages that aren't WikiWords

However, to implement these I will be making some major changes to the
PmWiki link processing code. This won't affect most PmWiki installations,
but any installations that have used customized WikiWordPatterns or
manipulated the MapPatterns array may be affected. (If you have no clue
what I just said, then the changes won't affect you. :-)

Thus, release 0.4.0 of PmWiki will be the one that incorporates the new
link processing code and other major internal changes. Any releases
(primarily bugfixes) between now and then will continue the 0.3.x numbering.
Attachments and FreeLinks will either be part of the 0.4.0 release or occur
shortly thereafter. Once these are implemented, the next few releases will
work on improving the documentation (volunteers needed here).

Also, I learned yesterday that there are some problems running PmWiki
with the "safe_mode" version of PHP 4.3.0. After the documentation is cleaned
up I will investigate making PmWiki work within the safe_mode restrictions.

If there are any questions, email me or the listserv.
