UPLOADS (Request for minimal File Management)

Its seems to me uploads are a popular feature of the Wiki. Whether it's for images, documents, pdfs, of mp3's, uploading files to wiki's is becoming more popular.

I would really like to see more attention payed to some simple file handling, not a full blown file manager, but just a simple way to upload (1 or more files), and to delete/update those files if needed. This is already possible with WikiPages. We have the re-direct command to mimic a rename, and we have the 'delete' keyword which erases the wikipage (sorta...I'd like to be able to retrieve a deleted page, and also retrieve a deleted file without having to be the administrator!) I'd like to see some similar features in the Upload abilities.

I also remember some other requests such as a keeping track of file revisions (just as we keep track of page revisions). I think these are all worth-while developments, but when I checked the Development Priority, I was shocked to find that it was not even listed.

So consider this my vote.

Note: I tried to add this topic to the development priority list, but I could not save the page. Can anybody confirm whether this page is editable or not?

Otherwise, consider this is a request for anyone out there that would like to see these features (or others) added, to please cast your votes and comments in the Development Priority section here:

http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/Development/DevelopmentPriority?action=edit

or if you can't edit that page, then cast your vote in the mailing list.

Thanks,

Steven Leite
