Reasonable, although it still retains the objection of being English.  
We could always provide a cookbook script and customization for those 
who really don't want the english '?page='.  

I'll have to think about it a bit more, but so far I think we can find a
way to avoid stomping on breakpage's existing use of '?p='.  I'll also
look at what Google has to say about things.
