I wrote a little while ago that I actually meant ': :', so I'll reply 
pretending (incorrectly) that's what Pm responded to :-)

I agree, indented text and blockquotes have different purposes. 
Blockquotes are for quoting blocks of text (duh), whereas I used indented 
text for things like this:
	Markup:				Renders as:
	* Bla bla bla			* Bla bla bla
		example code			example code
	->Bla bla bla			  Bla bla bla

where I used the non-existing '->' to get an indendet paragraph - today I 
use ': :' (or more often '::' by mistake). But I guess I'd prefer using
'->' etc instead.
