WebDAV is an HTTP protocol extension. See http://www.webdav.org/ for general

related Apache 1.3 module (http://www.webdav.org/mod_dav/).
Apache2 already embeds its own module 
(http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/en/mod/mod_dav.html).
IIS also support DAV natively 
(http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/iis/6/all/proddocs/en-us/pub_dav_redirector.mspx).
