I heard that there exist special Captchas Add-Ons f?r Wikis and Blogs, I didn't research yet. 

For a first step, it seems relatively easy to implement a feature that shows the current password on the password entry, controled by a flag in config.php. 
May be pw has not even to be graphical in a first step.
