Maybe your pb is in tmpl file ?

Log analysers (stats) can show the ways users are going to...
You can read log file on your server. If you find a line with the 404 
error, then look the IP adress of the visitor, and go up in the log to 
find this IP. If the visitor is using only one window in his browser, 
the first line above with the same IP show the name of the precedent page.
