Unfortunately, your fix does not make use of the (:markup:) directive, 
which was my problem as described below. I think I confused matters by 
typing "markup" instead of "(:markup:)".

What I wanted to do was use the (:markup:) directive to show the source:

  [= some code here
more code
more
until you're done, then =]

                 ----- followed by the result:

some code here
more code
more
until you're done, then

Try figuring out how to nest those brackets!! I stopped when my head began 
to throb.
