Ditto (just as a datum for you); this has never been anything but a
problem to me or to anyone using any of our 40+ installed instances of
the software.  I would disable it in a heartbeat and never look back
-- being able to make this go away would get me one step closer to
telling the truth about how user-friendly and undemanding the wiki is
for a non-programming author.

Jewelers, politicians, writers, community arts organizations and
environmental awareness groups never, ever need the leading-space=pre
feature.
