Oh, the PublishPDF (Wikipublisher) service already supports
list of figures and list of tables, as well as table of
contents.

I was referring to the style of markup. REF(id), TAB(id), FIG(id),
EQ(id) are all in the same markup family. Cite:ref-id is in the
intermap markup family. Either will work; it's a question of
which family is it most at home in.

A reason not to put it in the TAB and FIG family is that lists
of figures and lists of tables come at the front while lists
of references fall at the back. OTOH, they are all lists, so
keeping it in the same family may be better.
