[pmwiki-users] Install problem and $pageurl

I am trying to install PmWiki on my personal web space on verizon.net.
When I browse to the pmwiki.php page on my server, I get a message "File
not found.  /michaelgalvin/$pageurl was not found on this server."

I am stuck and don't know what to try next.

I had no trouble running my wiki as a standalone on my own machine,
using xamplite.

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?
