Executive Summary: the AuthUserOpenId cookbook Martin linked to below
works....

If, and as far as I can see, only if you use myopenid.com for your IdP:

I've been getting nowhere fast with LiveJournal (so much for my dead
clever scheme of using curl or something to scrape out an LJ friends
list and accept only those as allowed to log in) or openid.org.

Does anyone known if there are different and competing flavours of
OpenId out there, or what I'd need to do to the php code in the cookbook
to make it work with different OpenId providers?

Thanks,

Steve
