You can explude pages from search results by setting $SearchPatterns. 
But this works for pagenames. Is there an equivalent for use with PTVs?

So exclude all pages with PTV abc equal to "not_show"?

I can achieve an equivalent effect from pagelists using the format:
$:abd=not_show
