oops, the generic version should be more elaborated:

$MarkupExpr['directive'] = 'preg_replace("/\\n$/", "",
                               MarkupToHTML($pagename,
                                            "<:block>(:" .
trim(preg_replace($rpat, $rrep, $params)) . ":)",
                                            array("escape" => 0)))',

should do the trick
