[pmwiki-users] Static 'site maps'?

I believe the Pagelist updates every time there's a page save, not on
every page view. Are you saying there's page generation apart from the
wiki engine itself?

There should also be a Sitemap recipe, which is used for Google (I
have it installed, but never know if after five years it's still
around). I don't think that answers your mail here, but if you end up
going the "do my own caching" route, it should suggest how do
automate.
