Actually, Pm is going to say that we shouldn't have a special-purpose
directive for this at all.  

I (perhaps naively) think that the tools and markup at our disposal
ought to be able to handle this particular job without having to
introduce a specialized one.  At any rate, I'd like to start out
that way, and if it turns out I'm wrong we'll fix it then.

(Eek! There's that "user" word again...! :-)

All of these are waaaaay to complex!  I think it should be as simple as:

   %audiences% Reader, Author (Basic)

Also, in general I'm opposed to the idea of using tables
just to get floating elements or justification -- unless the thing
we're creating is *really* a table (or something that requires
columns), let's avoid the table markups.
