[pmwiki-users] Long running php exec... need a better soln

I have a custom markup that invokes a command via
shell_exec that returns PmWiki markup for display.

But the command can take awhile, and while it is
excuting all of pmwiki is of course blocked...

Again.. this is probably web site design 101 stuff..
but what's the right solution??

It's like I want the user to be is some separate
process state so he's the only one blocking
while waiting for the command to complete, yet
others can browse, etc the site.
