Possibly, but I'm not sure where those key places are yet.
However, I'm continually doing my own sets of benchmarks to tune 
the markup and fix little things here and there, especially when
pmwiki.org seems a bit slow.  I can say from having 
benchmarked it that the actual processing of the Markup()
calls and building the markup table itself is very fast -- 
less than 0.01 second on pmwiki.org.

One part that I know to be oddly slow at the moment is processing
of the urlapprove.php script -- it seems to take 0.10 seconds to
load and process those urls.  I've looked at it briefly to figure
out the delay but haven't really investigated it fully.
