Just to add my final two cents, I use message boards, newsgroups, wikis,
and e-mail to keep up-to-date with various products.

E-mail is fast and easily customized. Wikis let me see the consensus of
a series of arguments. Newsgroups are fast to search and filter. By
comparison, message boards are clunky, slow, and full of irrelevant
material that never goes away (no personal trash can). I would not want
to give up on any one of these methods, but if I had to choose, I would
toss them all and keep e-mail.
