make a page in the wiki that displays all the different symbols
options and the (draft) (org) links, then we can see how it looks
in-line with text and decide. It needs to be something that is easy to
click on, works on virtually all browsers, and can't be confused with
the existing links.

I agree on icons, maybe in PmWiki 2.0 we can have icons as an optional
feature you can turn on or off, or just a different theme/skin that
has icons. Since 2.0 is a major rewrite having the theme/skin control
how links are made, their text or images optionally.

I agree the current PmWiki is very low bandwith and uses minimal
graphics, that is a nice bonus. But in-line icons for links and other
things is a very user friendly interface for people who are not
experts.
