What happens if you *include* the link from some page that does link to 
the category page? I suspect the page wouldn't be classified as category 
page in this case (and it avoids the search).

You could put this on the category page 'Category.Beer'

	[[#link]][[!Beer]]

and then on the page where you wish to link, just do:

	(:include Category.Beer#link lines=1:)

I think this should work.
