The "refactored documentation" is wrong here.  The $TrailPathSep 
variable only changes the trail separator for "trail paths" 
-- i.e., only for the   ^|Index|^    markup.  $TrailPathSep has 
no effect on the other markups.

The http://pmwiki.org/wiki/PmWiki/WikiTrails-OldVersion page
has it documented correctly.  If we need to change the separator
character for the other markups, we could look at ways of doing
that.  However, I'm thinking it might be better to unify the
various trail markups using page variables, and possibly
page templates.

Second, I should note that the refactored page on pmwiki.org is 
*not* the version that is appearing the current distribution.  
I haven't adopted the refactored version yet because I think 
it's too complex, especially with all of the tables.  WikiTrails 
ought to be kept simple.
