Have you tried actually deleting the Documents.RecentPages and/or
Documents.ConversionTools from the server?  Perhaps the recent changes
page is re-registering the deleted page, because it is still available
as *,del-4231234234 whatever.

Don't know if this would be help, but you could try it.
